Alicia and Matt’s life together has been a real-life fairytale. They met back in 2007 at an airport bar before a flight they both happened to be taking to Australia to study abroad. Alicia admitted how nervous she got when flying, so once they boarded the plane, Matt worked his way back 10 rows to sit next to her. He calmed her nerves and even held her hand during turbulence.
Their bond became even stronger as they got to know each other throughout the trip, and the romance began. Few people know they shared their first kiss on an elevator in Australia.
In 2013, Matt proposed. During a trip to San Francisco, Alicia wanted to rent bikes and ride across the golden gate bridge. Here’s her story…
“San Fran is incredibly beautiful, and I kept making Matt stop to take pictures. I wanted to capture every vantage point I could of the magnificent Golden Gate in the background. When we arrived at Presidio Park, Matt led me to the top of a hill to get a better view. He asked a gentleman to take our picture. As the nice stranger held our camera, Matt started to tie his shoe. I nudged him. I thought, ‘The shoe tying can wait, honey, this guy is waiting…’ and when I finally looked down, there was Matt on one knee, ring in hand. I seriously lost the feeling in my legs and almost fell over. Of course I said yes!” Nice work, Matt! 😉
Fast forward to this summer. Alicia and Matt met me at the Stone Arch Bridge for their engagement photo session. We wandered around Father Hennepin Park and got some photos down by the Mississippi river. After a wardrobe change, we walked along the bridge to get some pictures with the Minneapolis skyline as a backdrop. It was a little overcast – the perfect light. I had so much fun documenting this adventurous couple’s love for each other. Their story is perfect, and their wedding this fall will make it feel complete!
Sneak peek of our recent engagement shoot! Getting excited for the wedding 🙂
