When Stephanie moved to Minneapolis, Tanner was working in the leasing office of the building she first rented from. He became her first friend in Minneapolis and 6 months later, their friendship turned into so much more. He proposed by surprising her at Minnehaha falls on what she thought was just a normal day. While her and her friends were taking an “artsy” photo with their backs to the camera, Tanner snuck up behind her, got on one knee, and popped the question. Tanner and Stephanie shared a kiss while their audience clapped. Their proposal sounds like it was right out of a movie!
When I met Stephanie and Tanner, I was instantly drawn in by their amazing chemistry. We took their engagement photos at the Stone Arch Bridge and St. Anthony Main, and Stephanie and Tanner were so fun to shoot. These two were a couple of studs, not to mention crazy athletic! Going to the gym together is one of their favorite things to do together, and they push one other to be better. What an awesome thing to share as a couple. Something I’ll never forget is when we went down below the Stone Arch Bridge and Stephanie and Tanner both just hopped over the missing steps at the bottom like it was no problem at all. This is way above and beyond anything I expect a couple to do during a photo shoot, and the resulting photos I was able to capture from above were absolutely amazing! I could also tell that you two go above and beyond in your relationship to make one another feel so loved. Congratulations Stephanie and Tanner! I cannot wait to see how you’ll continue to impress me at your wedding!

Ashley and Stephen asked me to come shoot their engagement photos in Pepin, Wisconsin. I already had a feeling it was going to be a good day because of the absolutely breathtaking drive from Minneapolis to Wisconsin. I arrived at the charming winery, Villa Bellezza, a treasure located along the Mississippi river, to discover amazing architecture, unique staircases, and green vineyards, with the Mississippi just a few steps away. It was every photographer’s dream! When you see the pictures, you’ll fall in love with it, too. Ashley and Stephen were a photographer’s dream as well. They were kind, knew how to have fun, and were truly in love with each other. They even brought along the most behaved dog that I have ever photographed. I distinctly remember Stephen telling her to sit and stay time and time again, which she did, time and time again. When we went off to take photos somewhere else, she was patiently waiting for us to return; it was unbelievable! She clearly loved her parents as much as they loved each other. The love between these three was pretty beautiful to watch. I just can’t say enough about this day. There was wonderful weather to photograph, a wonderful couple, and their wonderful dog. We were able to finish off our session with wonderful shots of Ashley and Stephen on the bank of the Mississippi during a picture perfect sunset. Thanks for an awesome day you two! I can only imagine that your wedding day will be even more wonderful.

Christina and Mike had great chemistry and were so full of life. They kept each other, me, and anyone else who was around smiling and laughing. No matter where we went, they brought the joy, and boy was it contagious! Whether it was giving high-fives to bikers on the Stone Arch Bridge or playing with bubbles in the park, no opportunity was missed to share the bliss that they felt from being with one another. I love shooting couples like Christina and Mike because they know how to go with the flow and seize the moment. My photography style is most beautifully realized when I simply use what the environment provides. If there is a man blowing huge bubbles in the park we’re shooting at, you better believe I’m going to go take some photos amongst the bubbles! Christina and Mike had the same attitude. They embraced the city of Minneapolis – the beautiful infrastructure, nature, and people it had to offer in the moment. Because of this, we had an incredible time shooting together and their pictures turned out beautiful and unique. I think that’s how their life together will be as well. Beautiful, unique, and full of life as they embrace each moment that comes to them. Christina and Mike, you rock. I’m already excited for the wedding!

To most of us, Stella’s Fish Cafe in Uptown is our favorite place for sushi and seafood. For Kelly and Jim, this is where their incredible love began, when they met each other at the restaurant through a mutual friend. On the day of their proposal, Jim had a limo pick Kelly up from work and bring her to Stella’s, where he was waiting on the roof. Their love story began in the same place where their happy ending began; nothing could have been more special or thoughtful. Nice work, Jim!
When I asked Kelly and Jim what their favorite thing to do together was, they answered, “too many, but we like to take walks around local lakes with our dog, Rush.” So that’s exactly what we did for their engagement photos. I spent the day with them walking around beautiful Lake Calhoun and the surrounding area, with Rush, who is arguably the most photogenic dog I’ve ever met, as well as surprisingly well-behaved! Clearly Kelly and Jim are doing something right! In fact, Kelly and Jim are doing a lot of things right. First and foremost, they made the decision to marry each other, which is so clearly meant to be. Their chemistry was fun and simple and so strong; you could tell they just loved being around each other. It was a beautiful fall day, so naturally we ended up with beautiful photos, and I could tell that Kelly and Jim were going to have a beautiful life together. There seems to a theme within their relationship! It was so clear to me that their desire to be around one another would never fade. Congrats you two! I cannot wait for your wedding. Oh, and don’t forget to bring Rush along, too!
